RecipeCatalog Terms of Service

Effective date: October 10, 2026

These terms govern the RecipeCatalog Android application and related app support provided by Zajabuk, a developer based in Michigan, USA ("Zajabuk," "we," or "us"). Contact contact@zajabuk.com with questions. Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled.

Keep independent backups and check recipes before cooking. RecipeCatalog is an organizing tool, not a guaranteed archive, food-safety system, or medical service. Imported, scanned, AI-assisted, or translated recipes can contain errors. Recipes, plans, shopping lists, and backups can be lost or corrupted. Sections 4, 6, 8, and 9 explain these risks and lawful limits on liability. Nothing here removes rights that applicable law does not allow you to waive.

1. Agreement and eligibility

These terms apply when you accept them through an agreement control or another legally valid acceptance process that gives you notice of them. If you do not agree, do not accept or use the app under these terms. Merely viewing this webpage does not create an agreement. You must have legal capacity to enter this agreement; a minor may use the app only with a parent or guardian’s permission and supervision where permitted by law. RecipeCatalog is not intended for children under 13.

2. License, your content, and permitted use

Subject to these terms and any applicable purchase terms, Zajabuk grants you a limited, nonexclusive license to install and use RecipeCatalog on compatible devices you own or control for lawful purposes. The software is licensed, not sold. We retain rights in the app and branding. You retain your rights in the recipes, notes, and other content you create; importing someone else’s material does not transfer ownership of it to you or us.

You are responsible for having permission to access, import, reproduce, and share content, including recipe writing, photographs, and other protected material. Preserve attribution where required. Do not use the app to bypass paywalls, account restrictions, security controls, or applicable source-site rules, or to access another person’s account without authorization. Do not resell or distribute the app, interfere with services, or reverse engineer the software except where applicable law or an open-source license permits. These restrictions do not override lawful app-store sharing rights or third-party licenses.

3. Purchases and refunds

RecipeCatalog is currently in development and testing. If paid access is offered, the listing or checkout will disclose the price, included features, taxes, and whether payment is one-time or recurring before you authorize it. Descriptions of unreleased features do not guarantee delivery. A one-time purchase does not become a subscription without your agreement.

If a subscription is offered, its renewal price, billing interval, trial conditions, and cancellation method will be disclosed before purchase. Manage or cancel it through the store or billing provider used for that purchase. Uninstalling does not cancel a subscription. Price changes will follow applicable law and store requirements.

Refunds and cancellations follow the purchase terms, applicable store policies, and your legal rights. For Google Play purchases, see Google Play’s refund policy. Contact us with an order reference for help; do not send full payment-card details. Nothing here excludes a refund, repair, replacement, or other remedy required by law or the applicable store. Internet access, cloud storage, and independent services may have separate charges.

4. Your data and backups

Maintain and check independent copies of information you want to keep. The current app keeps its catalog on your device and has no Zajabuk-hosted recipe sync or recovery service. We may have no copy from which to restore lost information. Keep original recipe sources and scan photos separately.

Data loss or corruption may result from defects, updates, device loss or failure, insufficient storage, interrupted imports or restores, accidental deletion, incompatible files, Android behavior, or third-party outages. Back up before updating, restoring, clearing storage, or changing devices. Confirm that exports contain the expected information and can be restored. A copy kept only on the same phone does not protect against loss of that phone.

The current full-data JSON backup includes saved recipe records and history, meal plans, current and saved shopping lists, ingredient-library changes, settings, and cooking progress and timer deadlines. It excludes downloaded AI models and temporary scan or browser files, including original scan images. CSV exports recipes only. Exported files are not encrypted by RecipeCatalog; protect the files and their destination.

A full backup restore replaces current app data after confirmation. Older recipe-only JSON and CSV imports merge recipe records. Review the file and the app’s confirmation carefully, and make a fresh backup first. Android system backup or device transfer may operate depending on your settings and device, but it is separate from manual exports and may be incomplete or unavailable. No backup, import, export, or recovery feature guarantees complete preservation or successful restoration.

Deleting a recipe, clearing app storage, or uninstalling can remove information. Local deletion does not erase source websites, exported backups, or shared copies. Those copies must be managed separately. See the Privacy Policy for more detail.

5. Imports, AI, translation, and independent services

Capture works with available written recipe content. We do not guarantee successful or complete imports from every website, social post, image, comment, or device. Source sites may block requests, require authentication, change their formats, or remove content. The current capture browser does not automatically reuse your normal browser’s signed-in session. The app does not infer a complete recipe from video or audio alone.

Text recognition, ingredient parsing, serving adjustments, optional on-device AI, and machine translation may omit or misread information. Verify quantities, units, ingredients, allergens, and instructions against the original source. Review imported content before saving. AI output and automatic labels are suggestions, not verified facts.

Features may rely on Google, Hugging Face, source websites, Android document and printing services, and other independent providers. Their policies and terms apply to their services. Availability, compatibility, downloads, storage needs, or costs may change. RecipeCatalog is not sponsored by or affiliated with a recipe publisher or social platform unless expressly stated. Third-party names and content belong to their owners.

6. Cooking, allergies, and health

Do not rely on RecipeCatalog to determine whether food is safe for you or another person. Automatically detected allergen and dietary labels may be incomplete or wrong and cannot rule out allergens or cross-contact. Check product packaging, every ingredient, substitutions, and preparation conditions yourself. Consult a qualified health professional about allergies, medical conditions, or individual dietary needs.

The app does not provide medical, dietetic, or professional food-safety advice. Independently verify cooking temperatures, storage, handling, preservation methods, and ingredient suitability with reliable guidance. Scaling a recipe does not automatically make its cooking time, temperature, or preservation method safe at another quantity.

Cooking timers and resumed cooking progress are convenience features. They can be interrupted, delayed, or affected by device settings, battery use, app closure, or errors. They are not a safety alarm or substitute for supervising cooking and using an appropriate food thermometer. Use care with heat, sharp tools, raw foods, and other kitchen hazards.

7. Development releases, updates, and availability

Development and test releases may contain errors, unfinished features, or incompatible data changes. Keep independent backups and evaluate them before relying on a release. We may update the app to improve features, address security issues, or adapt to platform changes. Supported devices and features may change.

Unless expressly promised in your purchase terms or required by law, a purchase does not guarantee lifetime updates, perpetual online services, or support for every future Android version. If paid functionality is materially reduced or discontinued, we will provide reasonable advance notice where practicable and any remedies required by law or the purchase terms. Urgent security or legal changes may require faster action.

8. Warranty disclaimer

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, RecipeCatalog and related services are provided “as is” and “as available.” Except for express commitments in your purchase terms and rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, Zajabuk disclaims express, implied, and statutory warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and noninfringement.

We do not warrant uninterrupted availability, error-free or accurate results, complete imports, secure operation in every circumstance, compatibility, or preservation or recovery of data. Some jurisdictions do not allow particular exclusions; any exclusion applies only to the extent allowed. Nothing here overrides mandatory quality standards, consumer guarantees, or our Privacy Policy obligations.

9. Limitation of liability, including lost data

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, and subject to the exceptions below, Zajabuk is not liable for loss, corruption, or inability to access or restore recipes, notes, meal plans, shopping lists, backups, or other data, or the cost of recreating or recovering that data, whether those losses are direct or indirect.

To the same extent, Zajabuk is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or lost profits, revenue, opportunities, or goodwill arising from the app or related services, even if advised that such losses were possible.

For liability that is not excluded and may lawfully be limited, Zajabuk’s total aggregate liability arising from the app or these terms will not exceed the greater of US$100 or the total amount you paid for RecipeCatalog. These limits apply across claims based on contract, negligence, other torts, or another legal theory, to the extent allowed by law.

Exceptions: These exclusions and limits do not apply to fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or liability that applicable law does not allow to be excluded or limited, including nonwaivable consumer remedies and liability for death or personal injury where exclusion is prohibited. They do not restrict statutory privacy rights or remove an obligation to provide a legally required refund or other remedy. If a limitation is unlawful for your claim, it applies only to the extent lawful. Backup and cooking precautions do not excuse conduct for which liability cannot legally be limited.

10. Ending use and changes to these terms

You may stop using the app at any time. Back up information before uninstalling and cancel any subscription separately. We may suspend or terminate the license for a material breach, unlawful use, or a serious security risk, with notice and a reasonable opportunity to remedy the issue when appropriate. We will respect applicable purchase terms and legal remedies. Termination does not transfer your content to us. Ownership, accrued payment obligations, and lawful liability limits survive where appropriate.

We may revise these terms and their effective date. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes and obtain renewed agreement where required. Changes apply prospectively; posting a revision alone does not retroactively alter an existing purchase or dispute. If you do not accept a material change, you may stop using the app and exercise available cancellation or other rights.

11. Governing law and general terms

Michigan law and applicable United States federal law govern, while mandatory protections where you live continue to apply when required. Contacting us may help resolve a concern but is not a condition of exercising legal rights and does not pause legal deadlines. Disputes may be brought in a court with lawful jurisdiction, including small-claims court when eligible. These terms do not require arbitration or waive class-action rights.

If a provision is unenforceable, the others remain effective to the extent permitted by law. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These terms and express purchase terms govern app use; mandatory law and controlling app-store requirements take priority where they conflict. Applicable open-source licenses govern their components.

Questions about terms, billing, or data: contact@zajabuk.com. Keep original sources and existing backup files when seeking help with recovery.
